Lights, Camera, ACTION!!!

So a little bit more exciting news I just have to share with you all.

Remember that shoot I styled a few weeks back, the one for United Colors of Benetton, this one HERE
Well what I couldn't really spill at the time was that on the day the whole team was being filmed. Behind the Scenes, if you like, start to finish it was all recorded.
For what, you ask?

Fashion One TV, an internationally acclaimed online fashion channel (that shortly has its sights set on airing with Sky), profiling highly recognised brand names, designers and all other fashion talents.
Who's behind the scenes video was published on site and on TV last week?
You guessed it! United Colors of Benetton!

So thrilled, got a shudder of excitement seeing my name credited on the final images too!

Check it out here:

In other news, if you're looking for a light read this evening check out my latest guest post over on What Will I Wear Today?

That's all for now!

Pop goes the Colour

A fortnight ago I embarked upon my first professional styling job 'out on my own' as such.
Having gathered a lot of experience over the past two years between internships, extracurricular projects, completing my styling course and assisting various stylists, this shoot would be different because I was calling the shots on the styling without having someone else around.
Exciting - Yes.
Nerve wrecking - Totally.
That said I enjoyed every minute of it and having seen some of the results so far I am so pleased with how it all came together.
I also had the pleasure to work with an amazing team of professionals.

Here is the one image that I am at liberty to release right now.
Let's just say there are big things brewing and hopefully more to come very soon.

Fatty Vacation

I don't think I've ever mentioned it here on le blog before but I work part-time in Fat Face.
A clothes shop with a difference where the focus is on living life outside the boundaries of 9-5 and embracing the adventures that come your way.
Bearing that in mind, we, as a crew came together before a night out to find out the surprise our manager (and I) had in store for us.
Each crew member was styled in the new high summer lines that had just launched and making use of our oh-so-awesome props and backdrops we had a mini photoshoot in the basement.
Blue-steel on and here were just some of the results!
It was so fun and there are plenty more where that came from!

Entitled 'Fatty Vacation!'

Heidi, Heidi, Heidi...

It may have been a rough few months for Heidi Klum but this recent editorial in Yo Dona magazine proves that the supermodel/goddess has still got it!
She looks incredible.
The shoot is breath-taking, the styling is mouth-watering and I love the lighting on set (thank you photoshop!)
So I thought I would share this art form!

Enjoy!

Urban Elegance

I just wanted to share a few snaps from my latest shoot with you.
Shot on location at Windmill Lane in Dublin, the graffiti heaven acted as a backdrop for a more sophisticated, edgy type of glamour.

A Stylist Sunday: Shoot 4

Alas, it has all come to an end. My time spent 'studying' at LA Make-Up Academy is over but I am no officially a qualified fashion stylist (still trying to figure that one out!)

Kick starting our final week, last Sunday played host to our final photo shoot, shot on location in the Mercantile Hotel on Dame Street in Dublin. Our brief for the day was to recreate a past icon choosing from Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, David Bowie and Elvis Presley.

With less pressure on us this time around, I wanted to try something a little different.
I wanted to style a male model. In this instance it was my brother.
He was transformed into 'The King' in his early 1950s days.
My goodness did he do a good job, and embodied Elvis to precision.
I was amazed.
Performing vibrantly in front of the camera and delivering varied and unique shots, I was having a had time trying to pick out the shots I wanted because they were all that good!
This was his first time 'modelling' per se and he really impressed, not just myself, but the photographer, my tutor and make-up artist too!

Here are a few shots from the day.
Let me know what you think!

A Stylist Sunday: Shoot 2

Today played host to another photo shoot as part of my fashion styling course.
Even though it is counted as an assignment, I never knew a funner or easier task that would eventually be graded. It definitely beats swallowing book after book for regurgitation come exam time!

Today's task was as follows:
Each stylist had to pick three era's of fashion to research, in my case I chose the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Based on each era, two moodboards had to be created, one capturing the style of the era and the other the hair and make-up trends of that time. Effectively six mood boards in total.
After that, we chose one specific era on which our shoot would be based and got the chance to shoot two looks.
I chose 90s grunge as my inspiration.

For the first look I wanted a really grungy, apathetic, moody look in terms of poses and styling.
I think my model, the wonderful Mary-Kate captured it just right.
The neon Doc Martens against the lycra leggings (of which I am OBSESSED with) worked so brilliantly under studio lights. The Silver Factory t-shirt added a new-age gothic feel, and the vintage army jacket encapsulated the 90s to a tee.

Here are some shots that I took behind the scenes.

The second look was more colourful, more fun and a little less dreary than the first. Think Prince of Bel Air meets Madonna. Poses were more quirky with cheeky grins, mischievous expressions and a little playfulness.
I  chose a full on multi-coloured tracksuit jacket which, again, photographed like a dream. Layered lots of denim in different shades, added lace, revealed the tummy, studs and crucifix galore and indeed the bicycle shorts. It ticked every 90s fashion box.

Let me know what you think!
