A Stylist Sunday - Photo Shoot 1

You might remember me mentioning a few posts back that I have started a Fashion Stylist course at LA Make Up Academy?
Well today played host to our first photo shoot, where we called the shots as a stylist, made every decision, and preened over every last detail in the hope of getting the very best shot.
The theme I decided to go for was 'California Lovin' - basically a take on a laid-back, vintage-inspired, hippy-chic look. My model and friend, Louise fit the brief perfectly with her long tanned limbs and golden beachy hair, and oh boy did she do the clothes justice!
It was such an exciting day from being the sole person responsible for the end result and everything else in between, to seeing all your work and preparation becoming a reality.
AND it was great fun!
Unfortunately I only have a few behind the scenes shots I took of my outfits as I was laying them out.
I stepped in as a model for one of my fellow stylists, so needless to say it was just a TAD stressful running from hair and make-up to model to dressing to spraying pink glitter in my hair...yes pink glitter!!!
I can't wait to show you the professional shots once I get them back.

In the meantime, here is a finished package I styled back in November for a dance show with the theme of Seven Deadly Sins. I love it (trying not to be biased???) And it looks even better than I expected!
I hope you like it!

Behind the Scenes - Sneaky Peak

My life as a college student has ended, the real world beckons and the fun and frolics must be left in yesteryear.
I miss it a great deal, especially all my extracurricular involvements with both Dance and Style Societies.
Today, however, my taster of student life was rekindled as I got the chance to style a photo shoot.
The poster will be for an upcoming dance show, The All-Ireland Dance Experiment: Seven Deadly Sins.
Styling 7 different looks, 7 different colours representing 7 different dance styles - definitely not an easy feat.
But we did it!
I begged, borrowed and raided numerous wardrobes to acquire all that I needed.
Off we trotted seven models, five girls, two guys, make-up artist, photography team, show producers and myself to a dreary old cemetery to truly capture the essence of edginess, darkness and sin.
Here are just a few behind the scenes images, professional images to come.

Colours/Sin/Dance Style:
Red - Wrath - Hip Hop
Light Blue - Sloth - Contemporary
Green - Envy - Jazz
Orange - Gluttony - 60s
Yellow - Greed - Irish Dance
Purple - Vanity - Charleston
Blue - Lust - Ballet

Cold, creepy and colourful, we eventually overcame some technical difficulties to get the shot!
Yay!

The deadliest of sins...

I apologise for being M.I.A (missing in action) for the past few weeks, my life has been so hectic!
How and ever, I did have the most fun on the photo shoot i briefly blogged about a few weeks back - Seven Deadly Sins.

Ok, rewind, action...I am editor of my college fashion magazine, The Look which is being published this week, it's all very exciting. In order to compile such a project there of course had to be a show stopping, jaw dropping fashion spread. And so I tried and I think the outcome was pretty good.

We braved the wind and rain, two photographers, a stylist, an assistant, 8 models and moi and headed for Albert College park, the picturesque wooded setting for our shoot. A student run magazine, all of my team were students, some with experience some without but they each handled the days events very professionally. For that alone I am one proud Mama.

So without further a due I present to you my sins: Greed (Ana-Maria), Gluttony (Lydija), Sloth (Emma), Vanity (Sarah), Envy (Louise), Wrath (Me) and Lust(Emily).

I would like to thank my photographers Nicky O Flanagan and Eimear Dalton, stylist Anna Murphy, Assistant Elizabeth Demine and male models Dave and Dermot.
Great job by everyone, I cannot wait to see the final result!!
