Dare to be Different
Yet another busy weekend but nice to get some downtime in, meet up with friends and do a little retail therapy with the Mother and big little brother.
This morning we decided to take a little trip to Kildare Village for a browse, keep an eye out for Christmas pressies and just have a little downtime.
In all our haste, I grabbed the camera and my brother and we quickly took some snaps outside our house...an outfit post really has been overdue!
This ensemble is a little different from what I would normally put together.
I'm usually all about the girly, pretty, classic cuts with an edgy twist but in this case its a step in a different direction.
Denim on denim with the red skinny jeans and denim shirt, brought together by my printed shawl/cardigan thingy (it's very multifunctional, can also serve as a blanket!)
Mind you I wasn't planning on inserting Ugg's into this combo but my feet were way too cold so I opted for my old reliables.
It was really nice to spend some time with my Mam and brother before heading back to Dublin.
I bagged a lush bedspread and cushion for myself and satisfied my floral addiction with a trip to Cath Kidston.
Hope you all had a good weekend!
PS. I also have new hair. I got a fringe and opted for Balayage just last week. The wind kept blowing my hair in my face so I had to throw it up in a ponytail!

Stud Muffin
River Island €100
a la Chiara Feragni...250 squids
Goodness knows I have enough pairs already but I want a new pair.
I need a new pair.
Only problem is I don't know what exactly I want.
A brown knee-high riding boot? A low ankle boot with a classic mid heel?
Brown or black?
Come on these are big decisions here people!
I came across this beauty the other week and I tempted myself further today by trying them on.
Black biker boot, heavy studded embellishment, very daring, quite grungy but WOW are they amazing!
I immediately compared them to ones I have seen time and time again...
they are very similar to Chiara Feragni's (of The Blonde Salad fame) design which retails at €250.
Though hers are not overly expensive (swear I'm not counting my cents as I type!) I am leaning towards the River Island equivalent...
What's a girl to do...

A lil bit of magic...
Christmas is looming, fairy lights are popping up here, there and everywhere, the Coca Cola ad has premiered for the 2011 Christmas Season.
As a result I'm feeling lots of layers, woolly jumpers, white, crisp, serene settings and the anticipation of a white Christmas.
My newest discovery has come totally on cue, and resonates innocence, love and serenity all in one.
I present Hollywood's exports of the moment, the Fanning sisters, Elle and Dakota, in their spread for W Magazine.
Photographed by the amazing Mario Sorrenti, it portrays the essence of high fashion, purity and notable beauty.
It reminds me somehow of raiding the treasure chest as a kid, dressing up in odd garments and crazy colours, nicely accessorized with mother's best heels and red lipstick over half my face.
With an air of character and a great sibling relationship and incredible maturity, this spread is magical.

Behind the Scenes - Sneaky Peak
My life as a college student has ended, the real world beckons and the fun and frolics must be left in yesteryear.
I miss it a great deal, especially all my extracurricular involvements with both Dance and Style Societies.
Today, however, my taster of student life was rekindled as I got the chance to style a photo shoot.
The poster will be for an upcoming dance show, The All-Ireland Dance Experiment: Seven Deadly Sins.
Styling 7 different looks, 7 different colours representing 7 different dance styles - definitely not an easy feat.
But we did it!
I begged, borrowed and raided numerous wardrobes to acquire all that I needed.
Off we trotted seven models, five girls, two guys, make-up artist, photography team, show producers and myself to a dreary old cemetery to truly capture the essence of edginess, darkness and sin.
Here are just a few behind the scenes images, professional images to come.
Colours/Sin/Dance Style:
Red - Wrath - Hip Hop
Light Blue - Sloth - Contemporary
Green - Envy - Jazz
Orange - Gluttony - 60s
Yellow - Greed - Irish Dance
Purple - Vanity - Charleston
Blue - Lust - Ballet
Cold, creepy and colourful, we eventually overcame some technical difficulties to get the shot!
Yay!

'On Wednesdays we wear...clothes!'
I got my hands on the camera while the weather was somewhat fine and out I trudged to take some snaps.
I am currently obsessing over wooly jumpers, like compulsive everyday wearing, obsessing.
Nothing beats a good old wool knit...fact!
Patterns, pull-overs, fairisle, aran knit - I love them all.
Basic items that really add texture, warmth and comfort to any outfit.
Pair with jeans, a maxi skirt, shorts, dresses, or in this case playsuit and hey presto.
Just thought I'd show you my quick fix with this mint coloured sweater that I paired with playsuit and tights.
Also, and very unintentionally, I am a walking advertisement for Forever 21.
No matter!
Hope you like it.
