2012

So as a new year beckons, the current one must come to a conclusion and as so many others do I am taking a moment (make that an evening) to reflect on what the last year has brought me.

I have decided that I am going to start one of my resolutions for the New Year a little early.
I am going to spend the evening on 'Me Time' taking the opportunity to relax, watch a silly movie and not feel like I'm living against a stopclock, make a little list of what I want to focus on for 2012, do a little pampering, and just simply laze about in my new pyjamas.
It's the simple things in life...
(I swear I am not working in the morning and I am staying in to sleep!)

I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who takes time to read, comment, and enjoy my blog. I always appreciate feedback and your contributions honestly light up my day.
I see my blog as a portfolio of types, showcasing my fusion of journalism and fashion and adding a personal touch.

It's only this year that I have given my blog more focus, after meeting with other talented Irish bloggers, heeding advice from them, friends and independent readers. I started doing outfit posts which I enjoy immensely which without I couldn't imagine the existense of this little world of mine!

I am also so thankful for all the opportunities and life experiences I have encountered over the past year that have been thoroughly enjoyable and invaluable. The good, the bad and the ugly, it has all benefitted me in  someway and shaped decisions and choices that I have made.

So onwards and upwards I say, to the future, to seizing new opportunities and enjoying new experiences.

Happy New Year everyone - 2012, let's be having you!

A Happy Christmas

What a lovely Christmas Day.
I had a really nice day meeting family, eating, opening newfound treasures, eating, flaking on the couch...did I mention eating?
I didn't go too overboard but I did however decide to make homemade lemon meringue pie for dessert and oh boy was it NOM!

Anyway here are a few photos of my Christmas outfit, floral with a dash of pink (who'd have thunk it?), pictured in my natural habitat - my bedroom.
I got a lovely haul of gifts from family, friends and Mr Claus big, small and lovely sentimental offerings all of which I am truly grateful for.

Low and behold my absolute favourite gift are my Jeffrey Campbells, of which I have pined after for oh so long, and how adorable is the box?

I hope that you all had a fabulous day and lapped up in the luxury of family and good times.
I know I am so thankful for everything I have received over the past year, and to everyone who reads and contributes to this blog, thank you kindly.
It's the small things in life that matter most.

Happy Holidays,
Sinead

Monochrome Moment

I just wanted to share a quick outfit post with you guys.
Last night, my big little brother had a birthday party to celebrate his coming of age at 18!
With him departing early to get party preparations completed, what better way to pass the time than to take a few snaps of what I and my little little brother wore (I owe him for taking the pics!)

I wore a simple black playsuit with a white pattern, barely black opaque tights and a white blazer with black lapel. Very monochromatic of me.

Hope you like it!

More Christmas outfit posts to come too.

Happy Christmas everybody!

My Muse

You all know I'm a huge fan of unique, individual, new discoveries.
I'm an even bigger fan when I learn that my newest discovery is by Irish designers.
On that note I am super thrilled to introduce you to Mo Muse jewelry by designer Margaret O'Rourke.

O'Rourke is just one of three who run of the amazing yet quaint Bow boutique, in the Powerscourt Centre in the heart of Dublin city.
I first came across the delicate beauties that belong to the jewelry line Mo Muse whilst working at Stellar a few weeks back.
The delicate, sophisticated, authentic pieces are truly beautiful, unique and definitely cater to individual tastes.
Also incredibly budget friendly, I know where I shall be purchasing staple jewelry pieces at affordable pieces that will last for years.

I'm so excited to have found this line and I cannot wait to get saving for the newest additions on the Lust List.

Truly exquisite, classic and beautiful, put them on the top of you Christmas list

Available to buy in-store at Bow boutique, or online at style-tonic (some pieces are excluded from the online store)

Glam Rock

A quick outfit post for you guys! I was at a dance show last night, namely DCU's Best Dance Crew, supporting my friends, fellow dancers and first timers in what was most definitely a brilliant show.

This outfit is a good balance between casual and dressy without being OTT. I knew that chances of heading out after the show were pretty high so I wanted to make the effort and look edgy yet suitable for wherever the night would take us.

I apologise for the poor quality of the pictures, I had to rely on the trusty camera phone as I rushed out the door. To make matters worse when we tried to shoot outside, wind and hair in face were a combination of destruction so inside we went.

I am wearing black leather shorts which are vintage and one of my favourite items in my wardrobe, a cream knit sweater, gold chain and feather earring.

This look, I feel could be worn day or night, as demonstrated with converse to add a lil punk rock for day time, or add a faux fur jacket and heels for a more glamorous night time attire.

I think I look quite androgynous, not my signature go-to style but I kind of like it.

What do you think?

Ladies of the Rings

Caggie: Turquoise rings, multi-couloured nails and a nice bit of arm candy

Rosie: A creative minimalist. Gold band rings courtesy of Margiela @net-a-porter

I'm not one to get hooked on reality TV shows (ahem...I never followed The Hills or The City, I swear!)
but I've only recently been able to catch the remarkable 'Made In Chelsea.'

Their snobbery and fake 'kiss babes lols' greetings do grate on my nerves just a little but I still find the whole thing quite enjoyable.
Enviable wardrobes, thanks Daddy, that are strictly not high street really do make me swoon.
Some characters wearing run of the mill, 'I have lots of money so I shall wear designers on my forehead' but there are a few who have an original authentic sense of style.
My favourites being Caggie and Rosie, two of the characters who have a sort of creative, alternative, inspiring sense of style and a very keen eye for selecting a good set of rings.
This is where my swooning begins.

Caggie sports two rings, one larger than the other with turquoise stones, perfectly offset by her quirky multicoloured nail varnish, which I adore.

Rosie on the other hand is known for her signature three rose gold rings which are by Maison Martin Margiela btw, but they are in fact pretty awesome.

I know what's on my lust list this Christmas...though I might have to settle for something a little less...couture!
