Turquoise Tantrum

Just a quick outfit post before I head off to the land of nod.
This blazer is teasing me, I don't really know what to wear it with.
I am struggling...
I threw it on over these floral jeggings and black jersey tank but I'm not convinced.
I found this treasure in Camden market about 6 weeks back and this was my first time to wear it. Totally ecstatic when I first saw it, the excitement it would bring to me wardrobe and now....nothing, nada, zero...the inspiration and flow of ideas is null and void.

I am truly open to any suggestions as to how you would wear it!
Help me please!

Berries, cherries and mustard!!!

It's that time of year, as I like to call it, transition time.
The sun is still peeping out and you want to grasp onto your summer wardrobe for a few more days, it's not yet cold enough to layer on the winter woollies, the toned down shades and amazing shearling and wool textures beckon but all you want to wear are your carefree simple summer dresses.
What does one do?

I am big on colour, tell me to wear an outfit of black and I struggle - I don't own enough of it!
Big up on my lust list lately are berry shades of maroon and burgundy, you could say typical autumnal shades but they are perfect transitionary pieces that can be worn all year round.
Add to that warm yellow shades in mustard and gold and you're decked out for the September that lies ahead.

An avid fan of shorts and playsuits, I refuse to pack them away just yet, so my best advice is to invest in some good tights, overknee socks and ankle socks to add substance to your outfit.
Wear wool jumpers over short shorts, add a navajo cape to a plain jumpsuit, inject florals and prints too.

I've rounded up a few high street pieces in my beloved mustard and maroon shades.
Wear with shades of navy and beige and my-oh-my, who is that ever so glamorous laydee across the street??

What are your key pieces for this time of year?

Wild Flower Child

Just a quick outfit post.
I want to say a huge thanks to my brother, my personal photographer in this instance.
We set to work in my garden and I think the surrounding really add to the outfit in all it's vintage floral self.

Just a simple, everyday look.
I love a good pair of shorts and this pair in particular are great all year round.
Kimono's have become my new must-have items, and let's just say I've gone a little...ahem...overboard with them! This particular one always gets great remarks and it surprises people when I tell them it's high street and not genuine vintage.

Hope you like it!

Navajo Chic

I woke up this morning to a grey sky, threatening showers and a cold wind - not ideal for a day trip to Dublin!
Black was my calling.
I love embracing my autumn wardrobe and today was the first time I got the chance to do so.
A sleek city chic look topped off with my Navajo cape which i absolutely adore and newly purchased jewelry a la Shutterbug to add a glamorous edge.
I am loving the Indian trend for the coming season i have even invested in cute little beaded mocassin pumps. Keep it coming that's what i say!
What's your take on the Navajo trend - yay or nay???

Monday's Melody

An eclectic mash up of old school 80s tunes and noughties hip hop and everything else in between, I present to you Girl Talk.
I am obsessed at the moment, cannot stop listening to this stuff!

I had a very lovely Monday in Kilkenny, had a trip to Shutterbug leading to some lovely vintage buys, coffee, chats and a visit to an old candy shop... I felt six years old again.

ENJOY!

A True Masterpiece

I love love LOVE this time of year.
The weather is changing, the wardrobe revolutionises and the September Issues hit the shelves!
Admittedly, I spent a lot of money purchasing this years selection of autumn issues. I'm pouring over them as if I was back studying for the Leaving Cert - crazy, I know.

I am in awe.
I am in shock.
I am terrified.
I am intrigued.
I am astonished.
The list shall go on but my goodness have LOVE produced a breathtakingly androgynous yet beautiful editorial shoot for this quarterly's issue.
'What Lies Beneath' is saturated by dark and dreary wondrous images encapsulating perfectly the issues theme of dark obsessions, fetishism, elfin fairytales, unremarkable unassuming beauty that resembles a twisted tale of Alice in Wonderland.
It is AMAZING!

They say a picture says a thousand words, with a 46 page spread, words can't do this magnificent production justice.
Innocently guilty, modestly corrupt, smoulderingly angelic, the entire creative concept is extravagantly ironic.

This certainly takes high-end creativity to a whole new level.
Check it out!

Tales of a Mannequin

Today I embarked on an adventure of a different calibre.
I entered into the realm of modelling and let's just say it will be a day to remember.
Vila have just opened the doors to their flagship store in Liffey Valley, guest appearance by Vogue Williams on decks if you will.
They recruited 4 models to add to the occasion, hand out flyers, wear the lovely clothes and ensure a successful opening day.

With candy floss buns scraped high up on our heads, make up done and our styled selves ready, we each took to a podium in various locations around the centre - a tad daunting if I do say so myself - but it was absolutely GAS!
Little children were amazed at these tall girls standing in colourful outfits poised around the place.
One little girl was watching me from behind, she slowly walked around to look at me from the front, I smiled at her and boy did she jump five foot in the air!!!
"Mammy, she can MOVE!!!"
I laughed so hard!

There were a lot of perks to the day even if our feet were in agony by the end of it.
A goody back filled with wondrous items, and oh so useful!
And a generous discount ensured none of us were going home any richer than what we started with that day!
Could get used to this sort of work...!

'On Wednesday, we wear PINK!'

Apologies for being slow on the blogging front, life is a little hectic at the moment.
How and ever, it is indeed Wednesday, and I am obligated to produce my weekly outfit post emblazoned with a dash of pink.

I wore this outfit a few weeks back to an interview to undertake a fashion stylist course.
The pink blazer is one of my Birmingham purchases and I absolutely love it. I had been searching for this pastel shade for quite a while so when I spotted it in H&M it had to be mine.
These shorts are very Chanel-esque, navy tweed with brown and white specks sewn through.
Sheer shirt, sky high boots and antique jewelry - the necessary touches to add a tone of professionalism.
The string of pearls were left to me by my Nanny a few years back and I simply cherish them.
The cameo is an antique from 1800s and the gold chain is circa 1900s, my special 21st birthday gift from my Mam.

Hope you like it!

'On Wednesdays, we wear PINK!'

Introducing the first post in the series...On Wednesdays, we wear PINK!
Out of nowhere today a few of us started quoting Mean Girls, and the light bulb went DING!
What better way to encourage me to get on the outfit post bandwagon??

I grabbed my brother, hung the camera around his neck and off we went to make my idea come to life!
His idea that this block colour outfit, including fuchsia pink shorts, be shot in the middle of a field of newly cut hay, and
HEY PRESTO......!

Bit of fun, I love the contrast of the stark vivid colours and the vast natural background.

Gotta get my thinking cap on for next weeks outfit - how exciting!
